The Swiss Section of the ISLSSL is holding its third scientific conference to accompany the annual General Assembly on March 17th, 2023.

The omnipresent crises – war, energy, climate, pandemic – are preoccupying politics and the public and also have an impact on labour and social security law. In the context of this conference, we want to address some central challenges to the design of labour and social security law, detached from the urgency of immediate solutions.

At first, Prof. Nicolas Bueno (UniDistance Suisse) will outline the role of social rights in new postgrowth approaches. Prof. Isabelle Wildhaber (University of St. Gallen) will address how labour law responds and reacts to the challenge of climate change and sustainability. The third input will be provided by Prof. Nicolas Moizard (University of Strasbourg). He deals with questions of the protection of mental health in the employment relationship. The next two presentations will put a focus on digitization, which has already become an issue in labour law for quite some time. Prof. Sebastian Krebber (University of Freiburg i. Br.) will examine the possibilities and limits of regulating digital work. Last, Prof. Kurt Pärli (University of Basel) will deal with various questions raised by the «Metaverse Age» (also) in labour and social security law. The series of presentations will be concluded with a panel discussion of all speakers.

The conference addresses experts in the field of labour and social security law and all other above-mentioned fields of law.
